(Nurse Darby's POV)

It didn't take too long before we were on the road to Nevada. And it wasn't too long before (Y/N) fell into what I perceived to be an exhausted sleep. I was glad she did, because my phone started quietly buzzing, telling me I had a phone call. I took it up, searching my bag blindly so I could pay attention to the road. Fumbling with flipping open the phone, I finally managed to answer the call. "This is June Darby."

It was Fowler, and he seemed a bit more cheerful than his usual demeanor. "Ah, Ms. Darby! Just the one I wanted to hear! How is the patient?"

"She is fine," I huff. "And asleep," I tilted my head so that I could slip the phone between my ear and my shoulder so I could return both hands onto the steering wheel. "Why did you want to call me?"

"Just wanted to check up with how things were going."

"We got the things she would need packed and we left the city border not long ago." I took a second to think, reminding me of some stuff. "Why did we decide to take her to Jasper, anyways? All of this was so sudden and pretty random if you ask me."

I could hear him deflate at my statement. "Other than the fact that apparently Bumblebee felt bad for not stopping the crash, we have suspicion that she may have seen one of the bots."

This made me furrow my brows and chuckle a bit. "She had a head injury. What made you think she would remember any of what happened?"

"Huh, I never thought of that," He said in a cynical tone. He then got silent for a bit, most likely thinking, before speaking again, "Well, she could always remember later in life. And I- we fear that if she does, she could get herself in some form of trouble, and I don't think that's safe for her."

"That sounds like a bad excuse, but it does make some sense..." I sigh, wondering what this poor girl was just pulled into. "I thought you hated the fact of more kids in the base."

"It's sad that you're right, but she is a College student, right? Maybe she can put some sense into their heads." He was most likely talking about the children already there, and by the sound of the sarcasm in his voice I could tell he was annoyed. He isn't wrong, but I was still very unsure about all of this.

"Whatever you think will work, we will go with it. But this is very strange coming from you, Mr. Fowler." I couldn't wrap my head around his possible reasonings for bringing her to Nevada, but I had to go with his words. He is part of the government after all. "You are lucky I was able to come up with a logical excuse on the fly like that," I sigh; I was getting annoyed. "I have to keep an eye on the road. I'll call you again soon. Goodbye." I hung up just as he was saying his own goodbye, and I put my phone away. I hope he knows what he is doing.

Some time passed by, and it was around seven in the afternoon when I decided to wake (Y/N) up. We were in the center of Wyoming and I'm sure the poor thing was hungry. I'm quite surprised she managed to stay asleep that long as well.

((Y/N)'s POV)

"Hey, we're stopping for a break. Do you want me to get you anything?"

I woke with a drowsy grumble, which I wasn't surprised by. "Wha-? Oh... I'm not real picky. I'll be fine with anything," I blurted, trying to not be too much of a burden to the nurse.

She nods kindly and steps out of her van. It looks like we stopped at a gas station, and we were parked next to a gas pump. I would only guess that this will be about the longest break we'll have for a while, so I guess I should take the time to stretch myself out a bit. Sitting up after being slouched for a while on the seat proved to be a bit difficult and harsh on my spine. 'No matter though,' I thought. 'At least I'm taking the time to move a bit.'

When I saw June return, I smiled. She came back with two long wrapped packages, and a bag full of what I presumed were snacks. She opened my door for me after setting the food on an open seat in the back. "Well, why don't you get up for a bit. It would be healthy for you to move around." She helped me by grabbing my crutches and I shuffled out of the car with minor difficulty. "There you go."

I take the crutches from her and position them under my arms. With them still supporting me, I let go of the grips and pushed my hands on the small of my back, though with some difficulty with the brace on my right, to release the pressure. It felt nice. My legs felt better moving around, too, despite having to be careful with the one in a cast. I breathed with a sigh of relief, though it didn't last long before I chuckled nervously. "Hey, mind if I excuse myself? I'd like to use the restroom real quick if this is the longest stop we'll make for a while."

"Go ahead. Just be careful on that leg of yours," she nodded and motioned me to go. "I have to fill up on gas and get everything situated first anyways. Just don't be too long!"

I nodded in return and did just that, even making sure to attempt to be careful with my wrist brace as well when I went to wash my hands. It was deemed harder than I thought, and managed to get them a bit wet, which I'm sure I'll need help from Nurse Darby to dry it off. When I returned, she was already waiting for me and opened my door to help me inside her van.

Now, our waiting only continues as we continue the ride to Jasper Nevada.

     Oh, how fun.
